Antique Photos
Did you know Sepia photos developed to give black and white photos a warmer tone?

Did you know there are three modern-day types of sepia toners? Sodium Sulfide Toners, Thiourea toners, and Polysulfide toners.

Generally sepia toning is performed in three stages bleached to convert the metallic silver, washed to remove potassium ferricyanide, and then immersed in the toner.

Today though, in almost all of our studios, our software makes your sepia photo ready in moments – framed and ready to take home in minutes! We expose our images digitally with no dark room chemistry but our Digital software allows us to create actual prints on photo paper or metal in the antique Brown & White Sepia Tone, traditional black and white, a hand-tinted color, and full color prints.

Metallic Photos
With advances in technology, we are now able to offer a metallic print. A hybrid between Antique Photo and TinType; we use a unique blend of material to create a metallic print that mimics the look and feel of TinType Photos.
TinType Photos
Did you know that TinTypes were originally only used in Formal sittings and studios however later they were more commonly used by open air photographers?

Did you know that TinTypes were originally made on iron that had a lacquered finished that allowed them to be ready in just minutes?

Did you know that TinTypes were originally made in the 1860s and 1870s but continued into the 1950s before making a return in the early 2000’s?

Today we use a little different process to make TinTypes than in the 1800s. We expose our images digitally with no dark room chemistry but our Digital TinTypes allow us to create actual prints on metal in the traditional Black & White, a Brown & White Sepia Tone, a hand-tinted color, and full color prints.

If you do purchase Digital images from Ashley Nostalgia we recommend you back up your digital images in more than one location. Once you purchase the HiRes images from Ashley Nostalgia with copyright release, we release the High Resolution images to you, no longer keeping them for our own use. So backing up your images in a safe and secure location becomes important. Social media sites are a good location to save images; however, that does not keep the HiRes quality photo, instead it’s a reduced quality image. We recommend you save your images to external hard drives, or an offsite backup server.
